Gearing Up For Game 2:

Fort St John Flyers-Powell River Regals

After one game, the series is about to pick up some momentum. Last night's 4-2 Regal victory came due to hard work, and capitalizing on mistakes. The Flyers are primed and ready to go tonight as they welcome a couple new faces to the lineup. Rick Cleaver(Parksville, BC) and Gary Gladue(Chetwynd, BC) will make their Savage Cup debut in a game you might refer to as a must win for the boys in blue.

In last night's game, the spotlight was won over by Regals forward Andy Welsh. The Powell River Kings color analyst scored a goal and added an assist in the victory, while Rick McLaren, Scott Kirton and Chris Tarr added singles. Scoring for the Flyers was Ian Munro, who potted a nifty one timer pass in front of the net to open the scoring; and Luke Middleton made it a 3-2 game before Tarr picked up the shorthanded marker to seal the victory for the Regals. Kirby Halcrow made 30 saves in the losing effort, while Justin Mulholland stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced. Fort St John would go 0-for-5 on the man advantage, while Powell River would go 1-for-5, with a shorthanded goal.

Game 2 goes tonight at the
Hap Parker Arena in Powell River.

A special thanks goes out to Alex Rawnsley, the voice of the Powell River Kings; who allowed me to join his broadcast last night. It is the 3rd BCHL squad I have had the privilege of working with this season, and to Alex and the rest of the folks, I can never thank you enough for the opportunities you have given myself. Check out Alex' blog at!
