Mustangs Preparing For Terriers:

Old Time Logo's For 2 Historical Teams
After a 6-3 win this weekend against the sluggish Weyburn Red Wings, the Melfort Mustangs are back at the drawing board in preparation for Thursday's game against the Yorkton Terriers. These teams are yet to meet this season, but the Terriers will come in with the hot(ter) hand.

With 6 wins in their first 8 games, the Terriers sit with the 2nd best win percentage in the SJHL, behind only Flin Flon. They posses heavy gun Jeremy Johnson, who has 8 goals in 8 games, and they've also allowed a league low 16 goals thanks to Conor Barrie and local boy Kale Thomson. Not bad for a team that hardly made it over 10 returning players.

The Mustangs meanwhile, are now playing .500 hockey at 5-5-0-0 and will look to be above .500 with a win for the first time since February 16th of 2011, and hey, this Terrier club is the same one that ousted the Mustangs in 5 games in the 2nd round that year. A win would also help the Mustangs gain ground on the Humboldt Broncos, assuming they pick up a minimum of 2 points in 2 games leading up to Thursday. The 'Stangs are currently 1 point back of their barn pals, with 2 games more being played by Melfort.

Game time on Thursday is 7:30 at Northern Lights Palace, and if you are unable to make it to the rink, I encourage you to tune in to the Melfort Mustangs Broadcast Network for a few bucks cheaper with Sportsnet like scoreboards and replays!
