Mustangs Host North Stars:
The Mustangs, at 7-12-0-1 have won just 2 of their previous 10 but the teams play has been great in most of the games, with most of them being 1-goal games.
The North Stars on the other hand, are fighting to get back to .500 as they are currently 8-10-0-0.
These two teams have met twice this season already, with Battlefords taking both games by scores of 3-1(Sept. 29) and 5-4(Oct. 14). The second meeting was a close one with Patrick Johnson standing tall in net, while Jesse Wilkins stood out with 38 saves in the first meeting.
Connor Creech and Casey Parker have both appeared in one game for the Stars, with Parker stopping 23-of-27 in the 5-4 win, and Creech making 18 saves in the 3-1 game.
The Mustangs seem to have found more success in the offensive zone, although a 5-0 loss last night in Humboldt hurt their average. Last weekend, the team scored 7 in 2 games vs the Nipawin Hawks, showing that the offense is capable of scoring goals.
Brandon Formosa proved his worth last weekend, with a Friday night hat trick while both netminders played two amazing games, keeping the Mustangs within distance for the full 60 minutes.
Tonight's game can be heard on CJNB with my former Fort St John's Moose FM predecessor Mike Feeney, as well as online on the Mustangs Broadcast Network, through melfortmustangs.com
The MBN features what I think is one of the best Junior video broadcasts there is, features replay's, scoreboards, and graphics on goaltenders and players.
Tune in, it'll be worth it! A big thanks goes out today to the parents and fans I received emails from regarding my comments earlier this week, and while I regret putting a Mustang on the spot like that, I am glad you are all understanding of the situation I put myself in to and I look forward to bringing you enjoyable coverage of the SJHL for many games to come!
