SJHL Trade Deadline Looming:

With January 10th being my birthday, I always found a reason to get excited for it, but I also find another reason to get a little extra oomph in my step that day... It's because it has always been trade deadline day in the Junior A ranks. This year is no different.

The Melfort Mustangs seem to be loaded up on young guns that give them a couple seasons with the same core team, but a few changes may be looming as the team shows steady improvement. Look for some added scoring to come in, if anything. Otherwise, you can bet GM/Coach Gavin Holcomb is comfortable with his group, and fans should be too because from the goaltenders to the defensemen to the forwards they have been pushing a little bit harder each and every night.

In Nipawin, the Hawks seem prepared for a run-to-be. With just one card left, there isn't much they can do, so if someone is to be added, another has to be let go so you can be sure if a player DOES come in, he will be a game-changer. Adding Eli Lichtenwald was a move the Hawks needed as it adds some more size and scoring in a Top 6 role.

That's where Branden and I come in, follow us on Twitter(@brandencrowe or @dustinscafe) or check our blogs as we keep you up to date on CK750's teams throughout the 2013 Trade Deadline!

The 'Stangs are set to host Kindersley tonight at the Northern Lights Palace, a game that can be watched live on the Mustangs Broadcast Network beginning with puckdrop at 7:30.

Nipawin is in Humboldt on Friday, after winning 4-1 in Battlefords last night.
