One-on-One with Mike Williamson:

I was privileged to have the opportunity to chat with a member of the Spruce Grove Saints' 2012 AJHL Championship team this week, as defenseman Michael Williamson made time to pop by the 93.1 The One studios in Leduc, where Williamson calls home.

Mike is a 19 year old who got the call by the Vancouver Canucks with the 175th overall selection in the 6th round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and he is off to join the NCAA's Penn State Nittany Lions this fall for their first year of Division I Big Ten Conference play.

After suiting up in just short of 100 career AJHL games, Williamson picked up a combined 39 points in the playoffs and regular season following a two-year stint with the AMHL's LJAC Oil Kings in which he wore the 'C' for his final year.

This weekend, the Vancouver Canucks are holding their development camp at Rogers Arena, which will wrap up on Friday, July 28th.

Best of luck to Mike and his family moving forward, I look forward to seeing you suit up for years to come!
