One-on-One with Preston Eshenko:

I couldn't be happier to get my first blog post up in nearly a month featuring a player I got to broadcast for last season and play summer hockey with this summer as well, Preston Eshenko.

Preston was recently traded to the Drayton Valley Thunder from the Melfort Mustangs in exchange for 20-year old goalie Mitch Maraschiello.

In Melfort, Eshenko recorded 1 goal and 3 assists in 18 regular season games, before stepping his game up in the playoffs recording the same stats in just 8 games. His play in both the offensive and defensive zones was very exciting to watch, and if he continues to work as hard as he does he is more than capable of pursuing his dream.

Prior to playing in Melfort, Preston was with the AJHL's Whitecourt Wolverines, where he recorded 3 assists in 23 games. Before his Junior A career got started, he played with the Leduc Oil Kings of the Alberta Midget Hockey League, where he was given an opportunity to play in the 2012 Telus Cup.

As discussed in the interview, Preston had a unique experience of playing the greater-part of a season on the Banff Bears Junior B team, before suiting up for a single game of Midget AAA.

I want to thank Preston for making the time for this interview, and the Leduc Recreation Centre for allowing it to happen.

The NCAA scouts now have even more reason to check out Drayton Valley games, Fran Gow has given Mike Mueller a great team to work with.
