Centennials Take 4th Point From Vipers In 1-0 Shutout Win:

Heading to Vernon for the 2nd game of the season series with the Vipers, the Merritt Centennials were able to get the games only goal midway through the middle frame, resulting in a 1-0 Centennial win.

Devin Kero gave Merritt a chance to stay in the game throughout the contest, making 35 saves for his 2nd BCHL shutout to improve the Centennials to 10-8-1-0.

Gavin Gould's 6th of the season was a power play marker with just under seven minutes to go in the 2nd period. Gould has now scored 3 goals against the Vipers.

Michael Stilliadis, who the Vipers recently acquired from the OJHL, was beaten once on 24 shots, and with his effort was able to draw in as 3rd Star, behind the two Centennial difference-makers.

Merritt finished 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Vipers did not capitalize on the same amount of opportunisa, including a late-game man advantage in which the Centennials worked hard to clear the puck several times.

Merritt was without Dane Birks, Jeff Wight and Diego Cuglietta, while Head Coach Luke Pierce is also in Calgary attending the WJAC camp. Vernon, meanwhile, had absent Dexter Dancs, Demico Hannoun and Jared Wilson. Mason Blacklock also missed the game due to injury, among others.

The Vipers and Centennials meet twice in November, with the first meeting set for November 5th in Merritt, followed by a date on the 27th in Vernon.

The Centennials head to Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm on Sunday. Merritt and Salmon Arm played to a 5-5 tie a couple short weeks ago in Merritt, in a game where offence came first and the rivalry was warming up nicely.

The Q101 broadcast begins at 2:30 with Dustin Scafe.
