Pair Of Games In Day 2 Action At RBC Cup:

The RBC Cup continues this afternoon as four teams will hit the ice for game action, leaving the host Vernon Vipers on a day off. Taking to the ice first will be the Yorkton Terriers and Toronto Lakeshore Patriots.

For the Terriers, it's the opening game of the tournament as they were given a chance to witness the start of the event before getting to work. Trent Cassan's Terriers could be labelled a favourite in this tournament, however with just 5 teams anything can happen in a short span. Without having hit the ice, indications point to the veteran status players for key roles, such as Brett Boehm, Tayler Thomspon and Chase Norrish. Boehm and Thompson combined for 104 points in 79 regular season games in Terrier colours, while Norrish was the SJHL's top scoring d-man.

The Patriots will be looking to ramp up their play and keep the transition game going as Yorkton is a puck-first team, so Toronto will need to get another strong game from Evan Buitenhuis. With that, having goalies with great numbers along with a few defensemen in the lineup who put up nearly a point per game in the regular season shows that this club has a strength offensively, where you never know who will create the scoring opportunities. 8 players had 10+ goals on the regular season for the Patriots.

For the Merritt folks!
Later tonight, the Carleton Place Canadians will face the Dauphin Kings as both teams were victors in Day 1 action on Saturday. The Kings came away with a 2-1 decision over Toronto while Carleton Place disappointed the host Vernon Vipers 3-2 in the evening game.

That game begins at 7 PM, while the afternoon game has puck drop set for 2 PM.
